(...) how boring and useless the modern studies (...) on the problem of God seem to me (...) all the classical arguments for or against the existence of God seem to me naive and even childish (...) We must content ourselves with personal certitudes, with wagers based on dreams, with divinations, ecstasies, aesthetic emotions. That also is a mode of knowing, but without arguments (of whatever nature: logical, cosmological, ontological, etc.).
